Welcome to the final August edition of the Jeffery A. Spilman DDS blog!
If you are confronted with the aftermath of adult tooth loss, we know how hard it can be for you to get through every day. You won’t be able to chew the foods that you love, your looks will suffer for obvious reasons, and your health will decline along with your self-confidence.
That is no way to live, which is why we want to tell you about a great restorative solution: dental implants.
Dental Implants Are Easy
Here’s the deal: dental implants replace a missing tooth, or multiple teeth, permanently, in a way that looks and feels natural. This solution is designed to last a lifetime, since dental implants can now be surgically inserted into your jawbone. They won’t fall out like dentures are prone to do.
We Work With The Best
At Jeffery A. Spilman DDS, we collaborate with a gifted implant specialist, who is only two miles down the street from our own St. Petersburg, FL practice. That way you can be confident that you are in good hands for your procedure.
Our dental implants are comprised of three main components: the anchor, the abutment, and the crown.
The anchor is the “root” of the dental implant. It is a titanium post that is usually threaded like a screw or bolt. This is the part that fuses with your jawbone for a solid foundation.
The abutment is the piece that holds the whole implant together, linking the anchor to the crown.
The crown the visible part of the implant that serves as your artificial tooth. This is the part people will see. As such, it is designed to match the look of your natural tooth color, and is crafted from durable materials.
It Won’t Take Long
In a few months, once your gums have sufficiently healed from the initial implant surgery, a permanent crown will then be installed over the implant. When the treatment is through, you can once again eat with confidence.
Plus, when we are finished with you, you will look younger and more vibrant because your elderly-looking caved-in cheeks will have bounced back, and your smile will once again be without empty slots.
Find Out If You Are A Good Candidate!
To be considered for implants in St. Petersburg, you must be an adult in good general health, able to tolerate anesthesia, and also be a non-smoker.
Every case we have encountered is unique so we will need to figure out the treatment that makes the most sense for you. We love the specialists we work with and you will too! Implant dentistry is probably one of the most rewarding fields that we could possibly be in right now, not only because of what it delivers for the patient but for us as a staff as well.
