The Many Uses Of Dental Veneers

Hello and welcome to the first July installment of the Jeffery Spilman, DDS, blog!

We are the one dental practice in St. Petersburg, Florida that can keep up with your ever-evolving needs. Around here, we do a whole lot more than those cleanings and checkups aimed at keeping your mouth clean and healthy. As it happens, we can provide an array of cosmetic dentistry services designed to improve the appearance of your teeth and gums so that you have the best possible smile at any given time.

Today, we want to talk about veneers, a great long-term solution that will make your smile look pristine once again. Please keep reading to hear more about the possibilities and then be sure to follow up with us to schedule your consultation.

How Do Veneers Work?

Our dental veneers work kind of like false fingernails in that they are highly durable shells that get applied to the front of your existing teeth so as to cover up any visible damage.

If your teeth have been through the ringer or simply have a few imperfections, a porcelain veneer will make your smile look completely restored. It does involve a minimal amount of (non-reversible) enamel removal for proper fitting, so you will want to make sure this is the best solution for you before we get started.

There are a variety of cosmetic issues that veneers can tackle, including:

Improving Your Color

If you have deep stains or if the natural shade of your teeth is on the dark side, we may suggest veneers rather than one of our teeth whitening treatments.

Straightening Things Out

If you have broken or chipped teeth, or if your teeth are out of alignment or have gaps between them, we may also be able to correct these issues with the help of dental veneers.

This treatment provides an easy way to fix challenging problems. It takes just one or two visits and some minor preparation, rather than months (or even years) of correction with braces or other alignment tools.

Hiding A Gummy Smile

If your gums extend too far down onto your teeth, they can make your teeth appear small and out of proportion. This is called a gummy smile, and we can often correct it with gum reshaping or recontouring, but we can also correct it with teeth veneers.

Veneers can be made to be longer than your natural teeth, effectively balancing the proportions between teeth and gums and giving you a more attractive smile.

Learn More, Take The Next Step!

We know how embarrassing it can be to walk around with a less than perfect smile. That’s why we are committed to helping you improve your fate through cosmetic dentistry. Veneers are a cost-effective, non-invasive treatment that works wonders for so many of our patients. Just so you know, we can set you up with standard veneers or lumineers. Either way, you win!
