All You Need To Know About Restorative Dentistry

Welcome to the final March edition of the blog! Thanks for stopping by our online home! What brings you here today?

Do you have a touch of tooth decay?

Or you are in need of a complete oral overhaul?

Either way, the Jeffery A. Spilman DDS crew can get you back on-track fast. That is what restorative dentistry is all about: restoring the health and beauty to your smile.

Don’t worry, we’ve seen it all. So, there’s no need to be embarrassed by whatever you are dealing with. What’s more, we have good sedation dentistry options, if you need a little extra help relaxing for your restorative procedures.

Whenever you do come in for your consultation, we will assess your condition and come up with a plan for treatment that best fits your needs and budget. We will make it as pleasant and painless as possible!

Our restorative dentistry treatments include: tooth-colored fillings, root canals, crowns and bridges, implant restorations, and dentures.

Keep reading if you want more information! And we’ll see you when you get here.

Mercury-Free Fillings

For this procedure we will numb the affected tooth and create a small opening in it, getting rid of all of the decay in the cavity. Once the decay is removed, we will then fill the hole in with a composite resin.

You may not believe it but in the early years of our office, and in other practices still today, cavities were filled with a metal amalgam, which was very effective but looked awful in your mouth and contained mercury.

Luckily, around here, we use only tooth-colored composite resin fillings, which are much more attractive and safer to use than traditional metal fillings.

Our Root Canals Are Better Than You’d Think

If tooth decay ever reaches the soft pulp of a tooth, a simple filling will not be enough to prevent infection and ensure that the health of the tooth can be restored. But we will be able to perform what is known as a root canal, which will rid the tooth of infection, replace the tooth’s pulp with an inert material, and seal it off again.

These aren’t as bad as you might think. And at least you’ll know that your health will be restored when we are finished with the treatment!

Crowns, Bridges, and Dentures

Some of our treatments are designed for specialized functions. Crowns, bridges, and dentures are restorative components that will help your mouth look, function, and feel like it would naturally, following tooth loss, a root canal, etc.

We’ll tell you all about your options during your consultation. Speaking of that, isn’t it about time to schedule your appointment?
